i contacted Vodafone today and explained to them that i wished to use my iphone with a pay and go sim. they asked for the number of the pay and go sim, which is giffgaff, the IMEI number of the handset. asked me a few security questions and then did the deed. promising a sim free phone within 48 hours. a text message arrived to my Vodafone contract number within 10 minutes confirming the unlkock.

no, its still in contract. but i told them i had bought a new phone and wanted the iphone as a back up, and it would have the giffgaff sim in it.

phone is now sim free

email came this afternoon to connect to itunes. once connected a message came up congratulating me saying my phone was now unlocked..

done the same thing mate with my o2 pay as you go iphone 4. 15 quid unlocked it within 48 hours, now i run a 3 pay as you go sim card cut down to size with all you can eat data.

i bought a iphone 4 on orange pay as you go it never worked for me like arrrghh told me i had to have a working orange number in it for 3 month before they would give me unlock code for it dam it was worth a shot tho oh and after 3 month they still want 20 quid for them to do it

VF will unlock any contract phone for free, after being on their price plans for 3 months. Once the 3 months has elapsed you can get a code for free.
