Can you confirm that the phone is locked to O2?

can you confirm that the SIM is working in another phone.

If it is & you're trying a different network SIM, it will need jailbreaking & unlocking. Visa versa, say it is locked to Orange & you're trying an O2 SIM, you will need to jailbreak & unlock it.

If it is locked to O2 & you're using an O2 SIM then it could be blocked. If in doubt call your network & ask for an IMEI check for blacklisting.

did you update phone via itunes to the latest firmware?

a quick look around on here will help you clear a few things up firmware, jailbreaks and unlocks etc

where you live chap, its sometimes easier and quicke rto get someone have a look, and i dont mean some fly by night market stall/booth either.

Not sure if Apple lock their p.a.y.go iPhones or not..?
Do you know enough people, on all the big networks to try their sim card in your iPhone....see which sim card will pick up signal....if none pick up signal you may have a faulty iPhone. GoodLuck
