iphone 3G Bluetooth connection to E Class Mercedes

I cannot get the iphone 3g to work with my car phone system. Do I have to buy a special Bluetooth kit or cradle or is there some changes I can make to my phone to enable it to be paired with the car phone system. Appreciate any help.

Please confirm your car came with built in bluetooth...? it may have phone buttons on steering wheel...but that means nothing,,

Car has Bluetooth and is packing up other phones - Nokia 6303. My iphone is not picking up any Bluetooth devices. The "Now Discoverable" wheel just keeps spining but reognises no devices.

OK.....You may need to start by clearing all other paired devices connected to the car kit....just to clear up is the kit a factory car kit or after market kit....?

I reset the car Blueooth on a number of occasions but with no luck. Rarely it sees the iphone but the iphone does not see the car bluetooth. Pairing is not possible. I believe the problem is with the iphone.

The ability of the iPhone to pair to a car kit has never been a problem....There are many types of bluetooth ver1.0, 1.2, 2.0, 2.1 etc etc....If your car has an older bluetooth version it may struggle to see/talk to your iPhone....I use to have a lot of fuming BMW drivers pissed when their new/ish BMW with car kit wouldn't work with their phone...

The car is a week old. I believe it has the uptodate Bluetooth required. The car system when tested picked up 4 devices at the dealer. Unfortunately it did not pick up the iphone.
As previously stated the phones Bluetooth does not show any device being recognised.

if its a new car take it back to the dealer maybe a problem with the bluetooth, get them to check it over. First try pairing another iphone with it, maybe a pals.

Is sounds like a factory fit car kit......

have you tried pairing your iPhone to another bluetooth car kit..? make sure you on the newest firmware possible....for an iPhone3G the highest firmware available will be 4.2.1
