unlocking iphone4

i have an iphone 4 locked to Voda and want it unlocking, Voda have asked me to put on a PAYG sim and add ?20 credit to it and they will try and unlock. Will this work? or is there a free software that can unlock it for me?

Take the Voda route...NO BRAINER....a fatory unlock over a software unlock.....factory all the time


edit : Your current baseband makes your iPhone totally UN-lockable via the current software....

u have to unlock with voda if no iphone4 can't be factory unlocked except ur carrier unlocking

andy i had the same problem with my iphone 4 on o2. It cost me 15 quid from my pay as you go balance. It all went fine and phone was unlocked 2 days later. It remains the best way to do it as the phone will always be unlocked regardless of what firmware is on the phone or whether it is jailbroken or not. The company will send you a text message when the unlock is complete.

What is meant by no unlock means there is no free way at the moment,if it's unlock you need you will have to pay voda/or some other company

i have had 2 phones unlocked by voda recently, a 3G S and an i4, just call them up and tell them you want to use your phone abroad and they should unlock it for you.
failing that, pay the money, its well worth it.
