    iphone 3G

I am not sure what I am doing here, tried using redsnow to jailbreak it. Firmware on at the minute is 4.0.2 I downloaded iPhone1,2_4.0_8A293_Restore and tried to point redsnow at it, it failed.
So I tried the dummies guide and used iREB RC4 to put it in a jailbreakable state... Now it is just black.
Connected to iTunes 10 which I have, and it wants to restore and update to 4.2... Should I let it?
Or should I now try point snowbreeze 2.7 at it?
    I am hopeless.

Just upgrade as normal with iTunes then jailbreak using the latest Greenpois0n for 4.2.1 firmware.

I have upgraded to 4.2.1 thanks for that fijiman, but I cannot get it into DFU mode. I have followed numerous tuts on youtube etc, but it keeps going in recovery mode, and Greenpoison says try again.

sorted it now.. with redsn0w. When I first tried it, it wouldn't accept the 4.0 restore file, but it does accept the 4.2.1 file. If, its of any interest.
