I think a pointer will be how much you pay for the part and where you get it some of the fakes are as good as the genuine thing...............
I know you believe you understand what you think i said

take it to apple store and say the home button does not work. because the home button has not been working for a while you were pressing hard to the home button for it to work and few days a go it slipped out of your hand and the screen cracked. 1 they will ither replace it as a good will as it happened to me, or 2 they will say sorry its gonna cost you ?145 to replace the handset, and if they do take that option, you will be getting a new refurb iphone, which would cost you around about the same price to buy an original screen and get someone to replace it, which i dont recommend as they allways messup and have dust underneath the screen!

it's hard to find a geniune one, so keep your eyes open, when firstly, the material should be different, here is one just for reference check on it.

There is no comparison between changing an LCD/digitizer on an Iphone 4 & any other Iphone.

                    It's a ~~~~ing nightmare!

The main board has two layers. The top layer has size specific screws, mix them up & you're in real trouble. Second layer not so bad. But the screen is held in place by 10 screws, 4 have to be removed, 6 are loosened but not removed.

I replace digitizers on 3G & 3GS Iphone's every week. It took me over an hour to remove the screen on the Iphone 4, even longer to get everything back together correctly. That's with every removed screw mapped to make life easier.

Doing this yourself should be your last option.

there is no way i am paying someone to do it when i too am human with 2 hands 2 eyes the right tools and a brain if it takes me 3 hours its 3 hours of my spare time and money saved .

i have a appointment with a "GENIUS" on friday so if that fails i'll buy a screen and change it myself .

                          Good luck.

I only do I4's if I have no choice, & I do this for a living... of sorts.

                          DON'T MIX UP THE SCREWS.

Put a wrong screw in any of the holes & you could very easily destroy the LCD before you even get to test it.

Sounds like when I put something together from Ikea.
