There's a video here that runs through how to use disk aid to do it: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir35aAfqPbE]iPhone Music Transfer to iTunes with DiskAid 5 - YouTube[/ame]

In order protect copyrights, Apple don't allow users to upload music from iPhone to PC. Perhaps you need to use other programs to transfer music from your friend's iPhone to PC.

Best way to do this is a program called ifunbox. Just drag and drop onto your desktop.

Just read this post, and I'm well late in responding, but here goes:
I recently used this (PhoneTrans Free Download - Download PhoneTrans for Free), due to similar circumstances i.e. new computer & music on an external hard drive (which I'd misplaced).
Only used the 'free' version, and easily moved approx. 800 songs from Iphone 5 to Windows 7 PC.
