    iPhone 3gs camera

    Hi.

This is my 1st main post on the forum ad I'm already after some help.

I have owned my iPhone 3gs for about 14 months now, and the camera as stopped working - will not operate on any Laser apps either.

Any ideas as to why its not working?

      All good questions.

Standard trim - yes, Jailbroken - yes (but jailbroken for some time though). No water damage that im aware of. current firmware 4.2.1.

Update though have had the screen out and on the board there is a bit of the ribbon connector broke away. I am assuming this may be my problem, bit strange though how everything else is functioning?

Sounds like you have found the problem. If I remember correctly there are 3 connectors up around the top righthand corner. Two of them are sort of clip on and the other is one where you flip up a little plastic bit to allow the ribbon in or out of the connector. I can't remember if one of them is the camera or not but if you have a look at iPhone 3GS Repair Manual - iFixit it gives you all the gen.
There is no tomorrow..... it's simply two days after yesterday !

Number 3 connector is the 1 thats damaged, but that does the screen lighting and proximity sensor which is all working. Looks like the cameras knackered - next job on the list to be done

          Thanks for all the replies

Just an update, had a young lad look at this today and he's replaced the camera and now all working (only charged me 30 notes). Some of you may say this is expensive but i look at it as helping a young lad through his studies, and I'm useless when it comes to taking things apart
