Please help! My iPhone won't turn on.

I was browsing the internet and then suddenly the screen on my iPhone 4 went black. I tried to turn on my phone but it would not turn on. I tried holding down the on/off button along with the home button, but got no response. I hooked up my phone to iTunes and it said my phone was in recovery mode and that I needed to restore it. I don't want to restore because I don't want to lose all my data. After researching i think that my phone is in DFU mode and not recovery mode since the screen is all black. Is there anyway I can get out of this? I wasn't trying to jailbreak or do anything like that to my phone when this happened. It just went black on me out of nowhere. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions because I do not want to lose any of my pictures

Power + home button sometimes needs to be held down for MORE than a minute.

Think it's a bit to late for your data.

As far as I'm aware the only way to get the phone working again is to restore it on itunes.

You could try Iboot, but I doubt that will work.
