l dont like some of the updates , l can see it forcing updates in the future ..

            Independence for all iOS devices.

With iOS 5, you no longer need a computer to own an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Activate and set up your device wirelessly, right out of the box. Download free iOS software updates directly on your device. Do more with your apps ***8212; like editing your photos or adding new email folders ***8212; on your device, without the need for a Mac or PC. And back up and restore your device automatically using iCloud.

Your 3G would of struggled on 4.0 firmware when it was introduced thats's why it is now limited to 4.2.1 firmware and no further... The iPhone 4 was designed to take advantage of 4.0 firmware and higher...iPhone 4 works great with 5.0 firmware....

              You can't compare a iPhone 4 to a 3G

Ive just done a software upgrade on my 3gs to OS5, couple of new icons on screen, not a massive difference, its reasonably fast, no slower than before, this Icloud software will not work on Win XP so I cant try that out

I installed it on iPhone 4 a few days ago.

In my opinion it has definitely slowed it down.

Would turn it back if I could.

The only thing i've noticed, when typing a text the characters on screen take a little time to catch up
