i have a 3gs that i want to jailbreak its on version 5.0
firmware 05.16.05
what software do i need to do this and where can i get it from

have a look at this , i found it elsewhere, read it carefully , make sure it is for your 3gs.

i was hoping someone would come back and confirm it is tethered or untethered for the 3gs bootroms it mentions , my old 3gs is one of those.

hi all i think i have just stuffed my phone,i got all the software,and did a jailbreak insalled cydia,all went well untill i downloaded one of their apps for a boot screen of a rugby bootand phone went off so went back and ran software again and clicked just reboot,got a load of writing on iphone screen until at bottom said giving up,now all i can get on screen is apple logo,goes off for a second then comes back on stuck in a loop

all i get now is cannot restore iphone error 3194 running itunes now trying to upgrade software to 5.0.1think thats what it is heres hopeing

HOW TO - Resolve iTunes Unknown Error 3194

Start TinyUmbrella, switch to the "Advanced" tab, and UNTICK the option which says "Set hosts to Cydia on exit".

followed the link and red a post about unticking set host to cydiam,did tha but also decided to try useing my old pc,as we speak it is restoring software no signs of error 3194 at present,hears hoping,it will be on latest softwarwe when done,can i have another go at jailbreaking when its done its 5.0.1 i think

wouldnt bother m8 ,, just download wot u really need bet its only afew pounds worth . l dont bother anymore theres lots of free ones and 99p ones ,, wait till untethered comes

for now still dont have apps to jailbreak your ios try downgrade to 4.3.3 by using you itunes 10.5 ang jailbreak using red snow..peace(",)

It should still be possible to downgrade to 4.x.x firmware as long as you have your SHSH blobs for the required firmware.

SHSH blobs DO NOT work for firmware 5.0 and above at the moment....but you can still save them, via TinyUmbrella 5.0.1....they may come in handy in the future..

To downgrade you need to first downgrade the iTunes your using, to a lower version... it's then a straight forward downgrade...again make sure your using the correct jailbreak version of sn0wbreeze or redsn0w to accomplish the downgrade...
