    water damage iphone 3gs, help

    hi just got a.3gs everything works ,connect to itune,make the right noise went usb is connected,it evens show the green battery sign,,....but the phone will not charge..[.it not the dock port] any help?

    It can still be the charge port, but more than likely the battery needs replacing.

    Just to explain, the charge port is connected to the main board by a ribbon with a push connector. It's more than likely there's residue & corrosion on that connector.

    Take the phone apart, buy some 99.9% IPA off ebay. Get the wife's toothbrush & scrub the board socket & the ribbon connector. Remove the metal covers & scrub what you can with the IPA. Do not touch the digitizer or LCD with the IPA, just the connectors if needed.

    Dry it with a hot air gun or hair dryer.

    Put it back together & try it again.

    Still no joy, order a battery. If the current battery is swollen it will need replacing no matter what.
