    create ringtones?

Anyone know how to do it?

I've followed numerous tuts but none seem to work. I can get the song down to 30secs, make the aac file then when I try to rename it .m4r it still shows as .m4a in the properties tab and wont transfer to phone?

    iPhone is a 16gb 3GS ios 5.0.1, itunes 10.5.2.11, and windows 7

Once you've shortened the aac file you need to make a copy of the file in the itunes media folder then change to m4a, then search and add this file back into itunes, it should show in the ringtones file.

        Just use iRinger

It's free and saves 30 secs to m4r, no need to convert anything 1st, it does it for you....simples.

            Sorry mate
Make a duplicate of your short m4a in the media folder and change it to m4r, go back to itunes and add the m4r file to your library, itunes will now see the new m4r file and recognize it as a ring tone. itunes needs to see a new file or it reverts to what it was originally.

            Sorry for the confusion.

Krazylegs have a look on the torrent sites there a loads of files for download with several hundred ringtones in them all ready to be imported into itunes then synced with your phone.
