unable to upgrade to ios 5

hello peeps
now that the untethered ios 5 jb is out i thought i would give it a go
i have used i faith for shsh etc
then went to i tunes to update to ios 5,,it took ~~~~in ages to dl the update and ages to try and update,anyway right near the end i get the dreaded error 21 msg and update has been unsuccessful
cant work out why,i dl another ios 5 firmware not via i tunes and tried that but still getting the same error msg,i have updated itunes to the latest version aswell
anyone got any ideas pls

Mine did that also! In the end i changed cables as i was using a cheap on to start with, i then put my phone in recovery mode and it restored my iphone in itunes but it restored to 5.0.1

Check your pc's host file if there's a entry called apple then delete it

Try hitting the restore button, that will put the latest firmware on automatically.

ive tried restore but i keep getting this error 21 msg
so i looked on the troubleshooting part of i tunes for this error code,it says run diagnostics check in i tunes,i done that,all good, still the same error 21 msg
i have disabled all anti virus etc and switched off firewall,still no difference,,i can connect to i tunes store so no problem there
anyone got any other suggestions as to why i keep getting error 21 and why i cant perform the update

Did you check your hosts file, if you have ever used tiny umbrella it modifies your hosts and causes this error

When itunes ask you to download and install click download only.
I had same problem and thats the option i choose. Once it downloaded i unpluged the usb to my iphone then back in again and it updated to ios 5.01

no i havent checked that,how do you do it ?

Open notepad, click file open, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc change to all files in the bottom box then open the hosts file if theres a apple entry delete and save, re boot and youre good to go

should they be deleted completely ?

Yes delete and re-boot

ive deleted the apple entrys but still keep getting error 21 when trying to update,ive tried all the suggested alternatives but cannot update
