tranferring apps to itunes

hi guys
im trying to upgrade my jb iphone4 to ios 5
when i try through itunes it tells me i need to transfer my app purchases to itunes. when i try to do this it runs for a couple of seconds then comes up with itunes has stopped working. i have uninstalled itunes and re-installed and still the same. any help would be appreciated.

You probably have to restore your iPhone first back to original fw ?Shouldnt you just restore to a custom firmware, you will lose jb apps anyway... Is your phone unlocked? And what's the baseband

No that's the iOS , that doesn't matter though unless you are wanting an unlock?,what version iTunes is it you may need a newer version. Look in the sticky at top of page

check your USB cable...and USB port on your computer

iTunes is the latest one
I'm using a genuine cable and the socket is fine for other things
