    Unlocking iphone 4s

Hi guys , got this brand new iphone 4s 32gb black phone that I need to get rid of and I need your help to get rid of it, it is a bill pay phone that I got and I need to know before I sell it can I unlock it so it will work on any network and when the phone is actually cut off will the phone still work for whoever buys it.

The phone has just arrived and has not been turned on nor has my number been ported over to new operator, it is an emobile phone if that matters and it's on bill pay in Ireland.

If you can give me any help/advice I would really appreciate it.

depending on what network its locked to you might be able to unlock. there are websites which can unlock it for they just need the IMEI number, just be aware some use the jailbreak method and in using this method it sometimes does allow you to use apps to there full working order. also jailbreak method can sometimes not allow the phone to make calls correctly
id contact the website first before buy off them and ask them do they use the jailbreak method to unlock the iphone

ive also got a brand new iphone 4s 16Gb up for sale if anyone is interested

If it's a new contract that you got from a network then no they will not unlock it until near the end of the contract. There are company out there that do unlock them, you would have to ask them if it's possible with your phone. Also if you sell it and the bill does not get paid the phone will get blocked, then who ever bought it would have a ?500 ipod.

i was under the impression that once the phone was unlocked by apple.....the networks couldn't block it.

            maybe totally wrong though.....

            maybe someone can correct me.

apple have closed the loophole on remote imei unlocking this method is no longer possible.

your correct, once apple unlock an imei no network can block it. in this instance apple wont carrier unlock the phone if its still in contract with a network and in turn the network wont unlock the phone until you either, run the coarse of the contract or you buy yourself out of the contract. however if you fail to stick to the terms and conditions of your contract and default payment you should expect the network to block your imei from working in the uk. it will however work outwith the uk after a carrier unlock when one becomes available.

But apple can still block it... if you give them the Imei...

If it's on contract to a network....yes it is locked to that network even before you insert your sim, as there locked at production stage for the network that orders the shipment...
But if bought straight from the apple store sim free then they are not locked to any network....

@OP, not sure if your aware or not, but an iPhone locked to eMobile will also take a meteor sim card without need for unlock. Emobile actually use meteor carrier setting
