    3GS v3.1.3 to IOS5 - is this a good idea?

    Hi folks,

I've had my 3GS for nearly two years and most of the apps I use are slowly changing to at least IOS4 so I think I need to upgrade the IOS. I've been reluctant to upgrade in the past because it's jailbroken.

Is it a good idea to upgrade to v5 or is there a way I could upgrade to the latest stable v4?

Obviously I'd like to jailbreak it again.

    Thanks for any advice.

Unless you have saved your SHSH your forced to upgrade to 5.0.1...unless you on an old bootrom 3GS you will have the option of upgrade to 4.2.1....

I would update to 5.0.1 and jailbreak....this window of opportunity may be closed to you soon as Apple will release IOS 5.1 soon closing any jailbreaks.

Most Apps in the AppStore are geared towards the newer firmware(5.0.1 >)

I've decided to upgrade to 5.01. It's in progress as we speak. If I can't jailbreak it for whatever reason I'll just need to suck it. Probably get a 4S later in February anyway.

Well I aborted the process before starting because I wanted to backup by photos and contacts, etc. before upgrading.

Should have done this already if you set itunes to automatically back up when syncing. If you have this set it will put it all back on for you later.

Well...upgrade to 5.0.1 tool 2 and half hours...was starting to get impatient .

Jailbroken with Redsn0w 0.9.10b1, installed cydia and installous fine. Most of my apps are now transferred back to the phone, I'll do the larger ones, i.e. tomtom, tomorrow when I can leave it for an hour or so to copy across.

Happy Chappy! Might hold off on a 4S now.

              Jailbreak 5.0.1 Untethered iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, iPad With Redsn0w 0.9.10b1 [Tutroial] ? CydiaHelp
