iphone 4s unable to send emails

    Hi
I've set up my iphone email account and I can receive all my emails no problem but I can't send them from my iphone. I've checked loads of forums and tried loads of things they suggest but still no joy. I'm on Tmobile and email ntlworld. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you will need to change the outgoing smtp server port to 465

i am on blueyonder so i would assume they will be the same.

        Hi,
Yes I have checked the port settings and they are 465. I've also looked on virgin website and I'm getting lost. I thought emails were on pop3 servers but now its imap? Still trying to sought it out. Anyone else with tmobile/ntlworld/iphone4s who have got their phones set up correctly. pm me if you prefer.
        Thanks again.

                Hi,
I've tried the smtp.ntlworld.co.uk and it just gets stuck trying to verify it. I'll keep trying. Thanks

This is how mine is set up on ntlworld.com and works fine..

EDIT: Just found this..... The ntlworld SMTP server does not current support SSL or Authentication. It won't do so until the @ntlworld addresses are migrated to Google.

To send e-mail when connected via T-Mobile 3G you will have to use the T-Mobile SMTP server

So i turned off all my Email address servers and i was unable to send a message through the ntlworld smtp servers....So to send messages from your ntlworld email account you have to have another email account active on your phone so ntlworld can use there smtp server to send that message.
Go to your ntlworld account on your iphone make sure your providers smtp is turned on in other smtp servers.

More Info...You can only use ntlworld smtp servers when you are connected via a registered ntlworld internet connection (ie your home modem/router via WiFi) This will change, though when the ntlworld accounts are migrated to the Google platform.

To send emails via gprs/3g you will need to use your iphone service provider's smtp server (in your case T-Mobile - possibly myemail.t-mobile.com if these fail then call/email T-Mobile)

if you only ever use 3g to retrieve email change your smtp to T-Mobile if you use wifi you need to create a secondary smtp, one for wifi and one for gprs/3g
