Battery Problems iPhone 3gs

I was wondering if there was a solution to my problem I have a iPhone 3gs and before it was dying at around 50% battery life, but now it is starting to die at around 75-80% is there a solution to this or do I need to replace the battery? Thanks

make sure you have all apps switched off and not running in the background,,theres an earlier threaad explaining how you do this if you dont know,,turn off wifi and 3g etc if you dont need it
barring that replace the battery,not such a hard job,ive done one

Best way to extend the life on your battery is to close down your apps when not using them and keeping 3g and wifi turned off if not using them too. Press the home button twice to see the apps which are running in the background then shut them down individually by holding the app icon till a red line appears above it.

If your on a jailbreak then instal killbackground from the big boss repo. It will stop all background apps running with the press of one button. Its excellent.
