help needed Iphone 3gs wont update

Hi guys,
A long time ago I jailbroke my phone and unlocked it and so had custom fw on.
I tried to sync recently with itunes and it gives error 1015

I have tried alsorts found on google to no luck. I dont know the baseband or even how i did it originally
So wondered if anyone can advise

or is it now a paper wieght

It not a basket case yet....You will struggle hard to truly "brick" your iPhone....

Need more information what firmware your on..? what version of iTunes your using..?

Thanks for reply, cant remember FW on the phone but using itunes 10.5.0.142

I seem to think sfw was 412 but could be wrong. all i remember was using a pineapple sorry to be vaig but was over a year ago

Try sn0wbreeze that will download latest firmware and put the iPhone into a restorable state then u put the custom firmware on by holding shift and restore in itunes

You can use tools from redsn0w, tinyumbrella, or my favourite iReb(link)

Try this first before anything else....to boot out of recovery mode... good luck...

If your iPhone was jailbroke then your chances to update are very slim and if you managed to update the iPhone to the latest firmware it will not work. However the apple will not let you to change the jailbroke Iphone back to the factory state you will have no chance what so ever to use Sky apps to watch any live football or any other sport on your iDevice broadcasted by Sky since the 4th of April 2012. If your device is working why your looking for updates?

just put it in dfu mode and connect to itunes
it should update and be fully functioning again.

(youtube dfu mode if ur unsure)

i updated a 3gs to ios 5.1 other day and it was just forever saying searchiong or no service i followed this website guide and it is working perfect now How to: Fix iPhone 3GS “No Service” or “Searching…” after 5.1 Update
and this 3gs was on ipad baseband aswell

you really shouldn't use ipad baseband unless its totally required.
jus restart ur phone. switch on 3g and data from settings> general> network.
usually does the trick.
