3GS Jailbreak

Hi All, The wife has an iphone 3gs it is already jailbroken but is running version 3.1.2(7D11) but will not now detect wifi unless she uses wi-fi for fun app would updating solve this problem? what is the best way to keep it jailbroken? Thanks.

Well it wouldnt do any harm to update the firmware through itunes to 5.1.1.
Theres a jailbreak available for it too.
