    apple tv

    i know this is the iphone section but after searching the forum i cant find anything about apple tv so thought peeps in here might be able to help
    basically whats the deal with these boxes ? i know they can be jailbroken and im told it must be a 2nd gen box to allow me to watch for free,anyone got one or know anything about them ?
    any info much appreciated

      the deal is, once jail-broke, the apple tv 2 can run XMBC which uses plugin (like navi-x and live cable) which allows you to then watch whatever is been streamed. best thing to do imo is download XBMC for the pc/mac/Linux and give it a practice run to familiarize yourself with the layout before forking out for the setup

          My brother bought one of these things last xmas. He lost all his movie channels when megaupload went down.
          He now uses it to stream youtube vids and films from his ipad to his telly. He paid 100 quid for it and it was worth it just for that.

              Unfortunately no jailbreak yet for apple TV 3 yet

                  For those who doesnt want to jailbreak, and still want to have the same function as XMBC, try downloading PLEX. It works fantastic for me.

                              Plex is perfect. Thing is, you have to run it on your iPad or iPhone and stream it via Airplay to the AppleTV. That extra step drains the battery in an iPhone rather quickly. An iPad has no problems with it.

                                      check the firecore site for latest season pass, its just as easy as preserving baseband on iphone. stitch the fw and restore in itunes then youll have to add video add ons via ftp. plenty of guides out there. In response to the earlier posts my atv2 still works perfectly
