Problem with 4S network

Good afternoon guys
I just bought a second hand iphone 4s that is locked to the 3 network here in ireland.
so i bought a new sim card yesterday put it in and no service after reading through tens of videos on youtube,,there seemed to be a quick fix..so now i have full coverage 5 bars..but after a while a go to make a call(still have 5 bars) and as it tries to connect i get a beep beep and the call ends(it doesnt say call failed like some people have problems with)..i have restored factory settings and im still getting this problem..the only carrier i can get on my phone is 3 there is another one that says 3 ireland but i cant get on that?
Could this be a problem..do they still send you network settings through messages? im getting pissed off with it now as the phone is awsome but its useless if i cant make calls..i can text on it no problem

So what network are you trying to get on in ireland is it 3 the same one the phone is locked to?.If so then restore the phone via itunes as that will update the carrier settings for you for the 3 network.Put the latest firmware on it 5.1.1 this will be done during the restore.
If its not the 3 network you are trying to get on then i dont know of any network unlock that works apart from the carriers factory unlock which is about 20 qiud and done via itunes or an unofficial unlock service via itunes which is about 50 quid.

the phone is locked to 3 ireland,i have a 3 ireland sim card..but i have to go to carrier and turn off the automatic setting..like i say i can recieve and send texts and ocaisonaly make calls..but more often or not i get 2 beeps and it says call ended..i have already restored and i keep getting the same problem

im thinking that this is imei blocked as i rang three and when they asked for the number they wanted to speak to the owner i said i bought it online and they refused to tell me if it was blocked..so i suppose its blocked in ireland..is there anyway of changing ur imei number or get it unblocked i know im asking the impossible just down wanna lose out on the money i shelled out..i can still send txts and stuff so its wierd to think its blocked??
