been looking or he same myself, and at the moment its ask the service provider or get a trusted unlock to get u factory unlock (i've just got vodaphone done for ?35, but organge are ?70 a go)
suggestion elsewhere, get a payg sim matched to the phone via the locked service provider use ?5 per month for next 3 months and then ask them to unlock it for ?20

If your UK based try approaching your Network provider for a permanent lifetime unlock....

There is NO software unlock solution for the latest iPhone 4 baseband....

I'm in the same boat, waiting for software unlock
as fijiman says u need to talk to network provider, or get one of the forum based guys to get it factory unlocked
i found out that if its a network provider that unlocks it, it is normally 3 months use (payg ?5 per month spend on calls) and ?20 = ?35
if its a forum based guy got a vodaphone unlocked for ?35, but orange is ?70

i am with vodaphone, i phoned them a few month back saying i was going abroad and wanted to use the local providers sim in my phone and would they unlock my 4s. 48 hours later got the text to say it was unlocked.. and free of charge
