None of the stickies advise where to begin. The only one that is close is the 'What now one' but this post asumes I have already Jailbroke my phone.

Ive had a look around the forum and kind find a simple post that states I need X, Y and Z to get started.

If you can help it would be much appreciated.

let's start with the model of your phone. Then your current firmware found in settings/general/about/ version.

4s, Firmware 6.0.1. From reading other posts I am aware it is not possible to jailbrake IOS. I will revert back to an earlier version if possible. What I also want to know is will i lose my contacts when jailbraking.

            Cheers in advance

Your stuck on 6.0.1 until a jailbreak is released for the iPhone 4s.

When the jailbreak is available you won't lose your contacts. Btw you should always back up fully to iTunes contacts music photos etc. what would you do if you lost your iPhone.
