I take it it's an iphone 4 and you have trimmed a normal sim down to micro size ... chances are you may have damaged the sim while trimming it .... or ... are you sure the phone is either unlocked or at best locked to the sim card you have put in it.
Most networks will send you a free micro sim card ... that way you can check if it's going to work rather than "hoping" your trim job was ok .There is no tomorrow..... it's simply two days after yesterday ! -
