help got a stuck iphone

Hey guys got an iphone 3g that's jailbroken and unlocked I done a reset all settings plus erase and content etc. And now its stuck in a loop it shows the battery and its red with the lighting symbol so plugged it in to charge and it doesn't seem to be charging but it gets to the apple logo sits for ages then screen flashes white and goes back to the battery icon.

Any ideas?

Have you tried a different charge lead? Have you left it long enough to get a charge to start up even? If all else fails try a reset, hold down the power and home keys for about 12 seconds, let go and it'll reboot with the apple symbol and should start.

tried all that different lead left it for hours to charge and still nothing managed to get it into recovery mode but iTunes wouldn't see it

I had this problem and it was the battery.
