Mick the jailbreak is fine but a few of the guys are having difficulty with app cake and some Cydia downloads. I haven't done mine yet as I usually wait a few weeks till it all settles down.
I would wait a wee but longer unless you are desperate.

Cydia had problems but now it's everything fixed.

Everything is good just make sure you have Itunes installed for the correct drivers. I did a 3gs on tuesday but cydia was running slow like a gazillion people were using it.
