I phone 4 upgrade and jailbreak advice.

Hi guys I know someone on here will know the answer. I have a I phone 4 about 18 months old on tmobile uk jailbroke it the day I got it all working perfect , But it seems I can't install some apps as they require iOS 4,3. I am on 4.2.1. Baseband 03.10.01 I have backed up all my apps photos contacts and stuff and saved my blobs. What I want to know which version iOS should I upgrade to that is stable and runs good don't want upgrade to new a then can't downgrade later. Which program should I use to upgrade redsn0w? And where can I download the original software to upgrade before ? As if connected and updated via I tunes it will update to the latest version iOS.

you can update to 6.1.2 and jailbreak using evasi0n software. its untethered too.
