Watch movie app via tv

Guys I'm pulling hair out with this, how the hell can I watch a movie app on my iPhone 4 via tv? I've just received a RCA-USB Apple composite cable!! This lets me play movie via app sound comes on but no picture, tv just saying no signal. The cable allows me to watch videos etc that I have on my phone already like the ones in my pics camera roll, any help much appreciated

There are many ways to watch movies from iPhone or iPad on TV. The best is via Apple TV. This is independent of the APP you are using (unless they block Apple TV).
Some apps do not support a second screen. Try using apps that support second screen. For instance use CineXplayer or similar to play movies.
I was surprised to find out the fine print on my lightening of iPhone 5 converter to older USB connections. It said video not supported.
Using HDMI cable in general works.

App is cartoon hd and not jail broke!! Apparently only Apple TV will let you watch this via app is this true??

If you can get your device jailbroken then there's a
Jailbreak app called re-supported which opens up permissions for all Idevice to TV leads.
I would be more inclined to use Apple TV and send it to your tv via the airplay button, or if there is no airplay option then use the screen mirror function.
