upgrade already jailbroken 3.0 to 3.1.2 for windows

As per my first suggestion m8, your phone will have no problems once upgraded to 3.1.2, tethering hack is there, no need to re jailbreak after you have done it the once.
Phone companies are unlocking Iphones here in the UK now, so only a matter of time b4 every Phone Provider does it.

One more Q. my pc crashed not to long ago with it went my itunes. is there a free way of getting things off my iphone into my itunes ?

Everyone here has been offering advice based on their knowledge/experience; it?s up to him which path he chooses & there are a few paths, not just your path!!

It doesn?t always pay to give advice on taking the easiest/quickest method, without letting them know what Damage it could cause them in the long run.

At the start of the thread he had an iphone that was allready jailbroken/unlocked, & he just wanted info on getting the latest firmware.

And that was my point, regarding the Baseband issue, if you have an iPhone that has only been updated & has been kept on or below version 3.0 firmware, you will have a baseband of 4.26, which will have more ways to jailbreak/unlock than a phone on 3.12 firmware & baseband 5.11.

So you always have a cushion to fall back on.

And with every Apple firmware update, they close another hole which was once used to jailbreak/unlock it.

i.e.: Say for instance you have you have 2 ways to unlock. "2 lives"
?1 the Dev-team way + 1 for the Blackra1n way?, & by using the Blackra1n on a version 3.0 firmware & upgrading to the latest firmware, you have just closed 1 way of unlocking. (The Dev-team way) you now have no cushion to fall back on.

You are back to only 1 method of unlocking (Blackra1n) "1 life"

Now, say the next Apple firmware closes the Blackra1n method; you are now stuck (until someone finds another way in)

You don?t want to find yourself stuck in a corner, by taking every single update as soon as it gets released just to keep up with the Jones?s (all for the sake of a few tiny fixes that Apple have probably just given you to keep you sweet) but really they are doing what every software company is doing, just trying to keep out the hackers.

No thats not what I'm saying Ian, all I'm saying is that there are to many people telling the poor guy to do this to do that, all he wants is the easiest and simplest path to jailbreak and unlock his Iphone.My advice might not be the best, but it's the path I'd tell anybody to take,wether or not he takes my advice is purely up to him.
I was not having a go at you in particular, but one guy saying he would have to jailbreak it again and again after in powers down is just not helping the matter.
Right I've said my bit, I'll await your reply m8.

If the guy said he knew what he was doing I'd tell him to get custom 3.1.2 firmware, then preserve his BB, then unlock, but this just opens up another can of worms IMHO,doing it as I first posted for someone with no PC knowledge is far the easiest and quickest way, not for 1 minute did I say it was the best/only way, easiest yes.

It can get very confusing,

& with his know how + with the situation/problems he has got himself into with the downgrade I think your right..

It certainly turned out a lot more than it first started
