Old iphone 5 updating software?

I have an old iphone 5 that I am trying to update to the latest software. The phone is still on iOS 9.2 (13c75). After reading it seems that I have missed Apple's deadline to update to the latest iOS 10.3.4 before November 3 2019. There is no backup of the phone. Is there a way to update this phone after missing the deadline?

Have you tried updating via connecting to the computer (USB) and using the iTunes software?
