i know the thread is old, but just here the answer for reference: There ist no manual pairing each iphone logic board has its own factory paired home button. when the home button is non functional, only apple is able to pair a new home button onto a logic board.
either the flex cable of the new display is bad, which could often occur on refurbished screen and less often on factory new copy screens,
or you destroyed the turtle ic on the home button flex cable. This IC is really sensitive to twisting and bending, like lifting is up with tweezers. One indicator for a destroyed ic is a still operating touch ID on the new display, but the best would be to test the home button on a different screen, preferably on the old one.
