If you unlock it yes. It would work on any network then.

are the GSM frequency bands different in the usa to those in the uk

and will a North America iphone only work on those frequencies

will the phone always be on International Roaming
as the phones IMEI is registered in American

can someone reply who has bought an American iPhone
that was ment to be used in American

who now uses it in the uk

      cheers

Bottom line is that it will work. I know several people that imported them prior to them being released in the UK, and they work fine. Just has the AT&T network on the phone.

Roaming is using a UK SIM in America, or a USA Sim in the UK.

An unlocked phone will accept any SIM & work directly with the chosen networks SIM.

All Iphones have an American IMEI & all Iphones use the same frequencies.

If unlocked it will work just like every other Iphone.

I bought my 3GS in the USA last year ( AT&T sim came with it), put an o2 sim in it ( it worked as I jailbroke it an hour after buying it), phoned up o2 to get it officially unlocked after having it on the o2 network for almost 10 months, cost would be ?20, wouldn't unlock it for me as it was an American Iphone. So I used custom firmware everytime I upgraded firmware to keep the BB at 4.26.08. Sold it last week with iOS 4 installed and the BB still at 4.26.08
So if it's jailbroken & unlocked it will work with any sim, if you want it officially unlocked, no chance, well not from o2 anyway.
            Hope that makes sense.
