updated to 4.0 now all i get is connect to itunes ??

You need to get it activated, otherwise known as "hacktivated"

If you are on official carrier the activation is automatically done since you connect it to iTunes, but i can see you are not on official so you need to do the hacktivation, otherwise iphone won't be activated and will be not working. i personally suggest redsn0w but you can google for simpler ways because i haven't checked for months

all it will take is for u to have a working simcard for the original carrier the iphone came with just borrow 1 , then reconnect to itunes and leave it , it will then become activated , u will see it on screen saying so

Yes, it won't let you do anything at all. The only thing you can do is hacktivate if other sim cards are not working... m8 i suggest you redsn0w for this job

with redsnow you need to turn off the phone and i cant ... all i have is the i-tunes connection logo , or emergency calls only ..

connect to itunes and restore if l was u m8 and start again // connect and press home and top button still it restarts ,. dont take your fingers off at all m8 till it shows the screen u now comes on again , then click on restore in itunes

i pressed and held the buttons for 2 mins and still nothing ... it wont do nothing apart from the itunes logo or emergency calls only ,

well you could try holding the sleep/wake button at the top with the home (Square Button) for ten (10) seconds then letting go of the sleep/Wake button and holding the home button for ten (10) more seconds. This will put it in recovery mode. plug it in to the PC/MAC, run iTunes, and hold shift and click on the restore button.

The phone will turn off if you hold both the button on the top, as well as the home button for about 15 - 20 secs.

When you connect to Itunes it will say it is in recovery mode, look for custom firmware that doesn't need hacktivated, then use ultrasnow or whatever to unlock it.

well that "reset trick" should have worked i mean the one - hold home and power buttons at the same time for 10 sec. But if it doesn't, then just wait until the battery dies, i have no other idea...

Its nothing to do with resetting it. The iphone needs to be activated, you need to put the original sim makers sim in it to activate it. Get an o2 sim and try that, it should then activate in itunes.
