    Tethering and data usage

Does anyone know the approximate ratio of data usage in a tethered situation as compared to regular I-phone data usage. For example, my carrier is offering a 6GB per month tethering plan and I currently have a 1 gb per month plan with no tethering - in a month without tethering I use anywhere from 500 MB to 800 MB. I don't know if Iphone compresses data or what so anyone with any knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

You can get 6GB for the price of 1GB at Rogers(CANADA).
It is the same price. No change at all. Call Rogers and tell them you want to upgrade your plan from 1GB to 6GB. There is no change in price!

Tethering, I can do about 2GB of data on average. That is considering average usage with a laptop on a monthly basis.

The iphone does NOT compress any data. When you teather from the iPhone it's just like using internet from your home computer.

    6GB is a smart choice.

Yes. 6GB is the way to go. I use Tethering on my jailbreaked Iphone 3gs a lot. I had to jailbreak it because my carrier doesn't allow it. I use around 2 to 4 gigs of data each month, and I have received a couple of FUP warnings from my carrier.
I wonder when they will charge me extra
