I have a question
i have a 3g iphone and it was locked to to 02
so i JB it to use on tmobile
now that tmobile are selling the iphone can update with itunes or not or will i still have to JB it then unlock it again

You have 2 options. Pay o2 ?15 to unlock it permantely. Or upgrade and JB it yourself.

You will always require an unlock and that is only possible with a JB or direct from the phone provider.

Be careful not to upgrade your baseband past one which is not unlockable. Check this IMPORTANT. otherwise you be stuck on O2.
Easiest way is using pwnage tool to create a custom firmware on a mac then when you upgrade your firmware you can keep the unlockable baseband ......ie unlock your phone afterz with ultrasn0w.
There are loads of custom firmwares floating about if you google it.
Disable multitasking if you go past ios4 software as 3g iphone runs pathetically slow otherwise.
Its better to use "backgrounder" and "activator" from cydia as doesnt kill your memory as much if you want multitasking...
