          I take it that its a second hand fone?ur supposed to have the original sim card to activate it but check this link

                U can supposedly activate by using a sim card that is on the same network as the original sim was.not sure if that works.do u no wat network it was originally on?

                  it couldnt of been factory unlocked m8 , it must of been unlocked by a hack ,and now its restored

                    Install iREB,do not load it up yet, put phone in DFU mode, ( proper DFU mode phone is a black screen, nothing like the recovery screen with the usb cable ok) start up itunes, wait for message saying iphone in recovery mode, close it down, open up iREB, click on 3G, wait until your phone that has a black screen in DFU mode turns white,iReb crashes, close it down, open up itunes again, finds phone in recovery mode, hold the shift button on keyboard and press restore, now browse to custom activated firmware you have downloaded, use ultrasn0w etc to unlock it.
                    Take you an hour tops, thats including d/l the custom firmware.

                        can anybody help me jailbreak iphone 3g version 4.1 i have used red snow jailbreakme and blackrain but they wont work and i dont know how to downgrade
