im just about to receive mynew i phone 4 upgrade tomorrow
its on contract
can i jailbraek the phone and what are the implications

There is a jb for 4.1 to be release shortly, its called greenp0ison. Keep an eye out for it, should be released shortly after 4.1 is released.

NEVER UPDATE unless you are sure
most times you update you have to wait for a jailbreak
