Downgrade ios4.0.1 to pre 4.0

Hi i have an iPhone 3g and it was on 4.0.2 and have managed to downgrade to 4.0.1 but my phone just runs so slow i want to go back to a pre 4.0 os software is there any guides as i have tried following one but its not working for me any help is much appreciated thankyou.

have finally do it i downgraded to 3.1.2 this morning and my phone runs much better like it used to before the dreaded 4.0 and then onto 4.0.2 update

here is how i did it

plugged phone into computer and let itunes detect it

close itunes

turn phone off and wait 5 seconds

put phone into dfu mode by holding the power and home button for 10 seconds and them keep hold of home button but release power button for futher 10 seconds

itunes should load and say phone has been detected in recovery mode and needs to be restored

clock ok and then where it says restore for windows users hold down the shift key and select restore

this will prompt you to navigate to a restore file

select the 3.1.2 restore firmware

wait for the phone to restore and you will most likley come to an error 1015

leave itunes with this error on the screen and leave phone with the connect to itunes on the phone screen and follow these instructions to get out of the error 1015

once done you can then jailbreak via jailbreakme.com etc and unlock with ultrasnow..

You can only downgrade the phone if it was previously JB and your SHSH files are saved on cydia. Also you would need to add 2 lines of information for it to connect to the cydia server for the downgrade to be accepted.

Also if you have downgraded to 3.1.2 then why use jailbreakme.com? Much easier to use blackra1n, and unlock with blackra1n too.

This will not work unless the phone has been previously JB and SHSH files are on cydia.

the only SHSH files i have on cydia is 4.0 4.0.1 and 4.0.2
according to the info on the top line when i load cydia and yeah you do need to add the 2 lines of text forgot to add that bit

No dont do it yet matey. Wait until the jailbreak comes out first. But if you cannot be bother about jailbreak then yeah go ahead you wont be disappointed as 4.1 has got some nice features. Hope this help.

thanks, that is awesome cuz that 4.0 upgrade is the worse thing that apple could have done to the Iphone.
