You may find that apps/tweaks in the App Store and Cydia maybe geared towards the newer firmware. Don't be left behind.

4.1 jailbreak works just fine but not on 4.2.1 yet had to downgrade firmware back to 4.1 and all is fine again!

This is really more about an unlock for your network/carrier if your on later basebands such as 05.14 upwards using ipads firmware....if you need unlock and are stuck on baseband then is good for you, otherwise wait

DO NOT EVER EVER let your phone die while flashing you must have it plugged in via it's USB cable..

You can virtually use most methods for your phone.. The above method leave , use something simple for just jailbreak....easiest for you I think and remember !!! Plugged in. Jailbreakme.com

I just got a 3GS Today, I figured there would be help on here and I was not wrong, nice section.

Anyways its my first iPhone, I don't want to risk screwing it up.

That video seems straight forward enough but at 3 minutes in when he is reading the warning out it did concern me.

If I Jailbreak as per his instructions and then later on have a problem will it be easy to restore the phone back to Factory settings ?

I really don't want to risk it if there is a chance your stuck with a useless phone should something go wrong.

I read on another Forum a few guys complaining of their phone not working altogether or being buggy and freezing after messing around with Jailbreak software.

You will only come unstuck if you need to unlock your iPhone ...Jailbreaking part of it is pretty straight forward..
