unlock iphone 3G

i have iphone 3G with ios 4.1, baseband 05.14.02 need to unl.ock to take any sim.
is it possible?
if so please give simple instructions.

Not simple you have to upgrade firmware to ipads 6.15 firmware do you still want to know more there are warnings with this,but if you are stuck and want unlock more than anything else then could be for you ....thnx

thanks for reply. i have read many threads & i know i need to update the baseband to 6.15 and the risks concerning gps.

i want to give it a try, it's all new to me,but i need to unlock phone.

any help to change baseband would be most grateful.

hi m8 try get the ipad fw/baseband you need from here first http://appldnld.apple.com/iPad/061-8...0_Restore.ipsw if not available try here iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download ipad(3.2.2)/7b500) ,once you have the fw you then need redsn0w 0.9.6beta5 or newer version.
use redsn0w to flash your phone point it to the ipad fw you just downloaded(please keep it plugged into USB the whole time)!!!! Enable the "Install iPad base-band" option and accept the warning.
When the redsn0w ramdisk is finished, install ultrasn0w via Cydia.

Which link did you use to download?what size is the file?what is the extension On the file?...you have

You may have extensions turned off... if you're using windows, go to control panel>folder options>click the view tab at top, then untick the box that says hide extensions.

sorted file extension was d/l in ie & it made it zip file.

started redsnow, i have now got 4 options:
1 install cydia
2 install custom bundle
3 boot tethered right now
4just enter pwned dfu mode right now

which option do i need?
