Ipod not updating

I have updates on my ipod, but when i try to do the update nothing happens. I put in my password for itunes and it looks as though they are updating, but then the apps which are being updated says waiting. But then the update stops and the updates are still waiting to be updated. Can anyone helpp

wot software do u have on the ipod ,, the ipod its self might need updating , some updates apps need eth ipod software to be upto date ,, look in setting and info and tell wot firmwares on it

The firmware is 4.2.1 (8c148)

Sorted it out, the date was wrong. Soon as i put the right date in it updated.
