    Damaged ipod classic

I have the IPOD CLASSIC, recently my little grandson in his infinite wisdom pulled my IPOD towards him and buggered the the part of the ipod that the charger goes into , now i can neither connect it or do any of the usual stuff. I was in a computer store to day and they reckon its beyond repair. Can any of you guys tell me the name of the part i need so i can tackle it myself.Any advice would be helpful it cost ?175.00 and was a gift. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLIES.

The socket at the bottom is part of the board, I have a few in bits here and just took a look, if the socket has broke at the solder joints it could be reworked otherwise find one with a bust screen cheap and swap boards, be very careful though the screens crack really easy when dismantling them. I repair stuff like that that's why I have tons of things in bits for spares
