When you connected ipods with cable is the cable original and did you have the car switched off when connecting as per your manual instructions?
What happens when usb with music connected?
Tells you in the car manual what firmware supported.

Found this on the bluetooth that you bought
    1 Power on / off
2 Power on / Press and hold on / off button for 5-7 seconds until you hear a ready for connecting or a sound it will auto connect the phone which it was paired.
3 Power off / Press and hold the on / off button for 4-5 seconds until you hear a long beep or a red led.

So in essence the bluetooth pairs through the phone. hth
