ipod crashes my pc

hi, i have my daughers ipod here and when i plug it in to my pc it crashes. i know that itunes is ok because my ipod works on both my pc and her laptop. i have tryed resetting the ipod still no good. what is happing is i plug in the ipod which opens itunes and a search box opens up(the one with the little torch you know it) it then freezes go,s to blue screen and crashes, and will not reboot until i unplug the ipod. any idea's
