ipod nana 4th generation needs recovery

hi there i did a system restore on my ipod 8g 4 th generation and now it wont open up just comes up with recovery as been doing it for about 3 hours now i have installed new itunes but still with no success can anyone tell me if there is a software out there that would be great thanks ian
