will have a go at setting it up later, there are plenty of set up guides to read through,

are there any tips you guys could recommend before i have a crack at setting up?

setting up an acekard in 5 easy steps...

1. format your sd card using a proper formatting tool.

2. download the latest available akaio firmware.

3. extract the files and copy the _aio folder and akmenu file to root of sd card. (don not put them in a folder).

4. add your freshly downloaded roms to taste.
make sure the roms are unzipped. all roms end file extension .nds.

5. enjoy....


i will offer you 3 tips.

1. always try an older rom first.
newer roms have antipiracy features built in, its best to use an old ro first to make sure your card is working. i usually use new super mario....

2. do not completley fill your microsd card.
the acekard will create a save file for each game after the first time you play it.
you need to leave room on the card for the sav files.
all roms are diffrent sizes, i normally add 20 roms per 2gig...

3. when you put the acekard into your dsi it should show up as alex ryder stormbreaker game.
if it doesnt, then the card may need updating.
post what it shows up as.

You legend Andy, it worked a treat.

Formatted, Added the firmware, added 1 nds file (rooms), then put the micro sd card into the acekard and put it into the dsi xl, switched it on and the acekard was showing up as DORASU, touched that and it loaded and there was the game "rooms", touched it and it loaded in no problems.

Cant thank you enough mate, you have literaly saved me hundreds of pounds on games.

Is there anything i should know about anything else?, like settings or anything?

if its coming up as DORASU , that means your acekard has been updated to work in a 3ds as well...

i wouldn't worry too much about settings, just have a play around with them....

only thing you may be interested in is cheats for the games.
if you google "massive cheat database" you will find plenty info....
its handy for young kids, some of the games are difficult.....

keep an eye on this thread
for firmware updates.

it is important to keep up to date for newer games....

always look for clean/unpatched roms.
you will come across newish games that don't work, but be patient.
firmware is updated regularly and you will mostly find the problem roms get sorted out on next update..


oh and you can play movies on the console too.
movies in a special format called .dpg
google moonshell for info on that.....
