Formatting a R4 card

Hi folks this is my first post here.
Both my boys have an original R4 card and I have been trawling this site finding out how to update to the correct firmware etc as its never been done.
I have spent an hour doing so and now need to back up and format the sd cards.
there was a link to a formatter but after an hour I cant find itr again. so which is the best way to format the cards so I can start again please

if your card is original use woods firmwaree.

1. format sd card.

you can just put the sd card in pc, right click and format

or using a formatting tool

2. puting on your firmware.

download latest woods firmware,

Digital Kaos - Downloads - woods 1.31

extract files then copy _rpg folder and dsmenu. file to root of sd card.

thts it, just add games.

remember to backup card before changing anything,

also original r4 cards can only work on dslites and can only use sd cards upto 2gig....
