Unsure which R4 firmware to use.

I had a DS ,the original series. But I gave it my mother 1-2 years ago.

However the R4 card I bought at the time I've lost all documentation for and the software I'm downloading simply crashes the R4. Since the firmware is obviously 2+ years out of date I am trying to update it for her.

All it says on the card is:

    R4
    Revolution for DS
    (NDLS/NDS)

All the firmware I've tried seems to crash at "Loading..." and I can't figure out which firmware to install.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    a couple of questions:

    1. which console are you using?

    2. what size microsd card are you usaing?

    3. which firmwares have you tried?

      er NDS Lite

Picture of my current working, yet ancient firmware http://i56.tinypic.com/24v45qu.jpg

Trying to get some newer games working on it for her, howeverfailing. Tried firmware would be lots...

      R4Li(131)-English.rar
      r4i_141_fix.rar
      r4i-sdhc_v1.24b_English.rar

Memory card size 2GB. There is no other text provided on the card, only what I said above.

      -edit

Trying Wood_R4_v1.31.rar now, managed to load the menu and some old games.

However I am trying to load the newer games now, weird as the file structure and firmware UI seem completely different.

well woods should load all the newer games for ya m8.

        1. backup and format your sd card using a proper formatter...

Digital Kaos - Downloads - sd formatting tool

        2. download latest woods firmware.

        Digital Kaos - Downloads - woods 1.31

extract files and copy _rpg folder and dsmenu file to root of sd cardf.

if it works it should play almost all games...

if its working andf you are having problems with specific games, let me know which ones....

        you want unpatched clean roms

yes m8, file structure is diffrent, woods is unofficial firmware which breathed new life into these cards,

Woods worked fine, the images for games instead of text may confuse my mother being the ... old person parents tend to be.

But, I'm sure she will live. Thanks for the advice.
